On the edge of extinction … the extraordinary “Sussex Tiger” sea trout
The giant sea trout, which spawns in the Bevern stream (a tributary of the River Ouse), is under severe threat from a huge number of housing developments proposed (or already approved) in the area. Local conservationists fear that the River - now protected by a River Rights Charter - is on the verge of ecocide … and the sea trout - a nationally-important flagship species - at risk of extinction.
